With a First Class honours degree in Contemporary Art and over two decades of experience as an artist, I have a commitment to creativity. I understand how visual language works and I know how to work with your ideas and bring them into reality. I will encourage you to expand your tattoo design ideas into something truly original and dynamic that expresses who you are.
Far from being random body adornments, tattoos are totems, symbols, representations and rites of passage; they are codes to be deciphered by those who wish to take the time to truly know us. Tattoos are not 'forever', they are just for the body and perhaps a vehicle for us to express something of our eternal selves whilst we are on the journey.

Tattoo Apprenticeships
2-week intensive Tattoo Apprenticeship courses are available from Clara's Health Registered studio in Hebden Bridge. You will receive one-to-one tuition from Clara Lupino. Seriously dedicated applicants only; The term "intensive" is accurate. There is a lot to cover and you must be present each day, full-time. In addition to training you in basic and advanced inking and safe practice techniques, Clara Lupino will teach you all you need to know in order to apply for your tattooing licence from your local authority.
By the end of this once-in-a-lifetime course, you will be familiar with all local bye-laws, licensing requirements, health and safety, aseptic and sterile procedures and all you need to know and do regarding tattooing within this industry and setting up a tattoo studio.
The course runs from 10-5 on weekdays, with a weekend research break in between. Training and teaching is divided in terms of the theory and practice of tattooing. You will receive a graduation certificate and copies of your Personal Development Forms which will detail all aspects of your theoretical and practical accomplishments.
Accommodation:
Should you wish to be on site, whilst also being immersed in a beautiful, natural environment, Clara and her partner can offer you eco-accommodation in their private woodland garden for a reduced fee of 500 for the 2-week duration of the course .The accommodation is sited in their canal-side garden, surrounded by trees and birds and comprises of a double bed within "The Roundhouse"; a turf roofed African-style outbuilding and access to a composting toilet, sink and shower room.
There is also a hot-tub should you wish to gaze through the trees at the stars and dream big about your new tattooing career. It's the perfect way to relax after all that hard work - and only a 30 second walk to your door at the end of each training day. You will be located within two minutes walk from the centre of Hebden Bridge and from access to canal-side, river and woodland walks. You might even spot the local deer who roam freely in the woods or the heron who frequently flies over the garden
How to apply
You would need to apply by email, detailing your creative experience to date and stating why you would like to learn to tattoo with Clara Lupino. You would also need to accompany your application with 8 portfolio images attached of your personal artwork. The cost is £4,000, with a deposit of £1,000 payable upon booking your course.
